Footsteps of Srila Prabhupada
From the banks of the Ganges to every corner of the globe — the extraordinary mission that changed the world.

Birth in Calcutta
Abhay Charan De was born on September 1, 1896, in Calcutta. From a young age, he organized Ratha-yatra festivals and showed deep devotion to Lord Krishna.

Meeting His Guru
At the age of 26, Abhay met his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, who instructed him to spread the teachings of Lord Chaitanya in the English language to the Western world.

Voyage on the Jaladuta
At the age of 69, with just forty rupees and a trunk of books, Srila Prabhupada boarded the cargo ship Jaladuta and sailed from Calcutta to New York City — a 35-day journey across the Atlantic.

Arrival in San Francisco
Prabhupada arrived in San Francisco and ignited the Hare Krishna movement in the West. The Haight-Ashbury counter-culture embraced him, and the first public kirtans drew hundreds.

A Global Mission
Srila Prabhupada circled the globe 14 times, established 108 temples, initiated over 5,000 disciples, and translated 80 volumes of Vedic literature — transforming spiritual life worldwide.
Ancient Truths for Modern Minds
The Gaura Vāṇī Academy is inspired by the timeless wisdom of the Vedas, particularly the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam. Our mission is to translate these ancient truths into a language that resonates with the modern mind, without diluting the essence.
We believe that real strength—physical, mental, and spiritual—comes from understanding our true identity. The "GYM" (Gita for Young Minds) concept is built on this foundation: training the self to face the world with resilience, clarity, and compassion.
Our Motto
"Worst thing we can do to you is to make you a Master of Self Control & Eternity of this short life."
